Demetrius Poliorcetes (306-285 BC). AR tetradrachm (27mm, 16.86 gm, 12h). Uncertain mint, ca. 298-293 BC. Nike standing left on ramming prow of war galley, blowing trumpet / ΒAΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔHMHTPIOY, Poseidon striding left, brandishing trident and chlamys wrapped around left arm. Newell --; cf. 38 for style. Good Very Fine. Since this coin bears no obvious mint marks or symbols, providing a mint attribution is difficult if not impossible. The poor style of the lettering and slightly light weight may suggest a contemporary imitation.

Estimate: 2750.00-3200.00 USD
