Ecuador en Colombia Medio Real 1833-GJ, KM12.1. Very Fine and a rather nice example for this type due to crisper details and fields. This is yet another variety from this first year of local national coinage where the Quito mint was laboring to figure out how to operate their new facility. The piece has a bold and well-formed Mo (for Medio) located properly in the field to the left of the sunrays and above the clear condors. The neatly punched "J" of the GJ assayer is upside down, probably done intentionally by the diesinker who did not understand its attachment to the G (of assayer initials). He punched the J as if an extension of the abbreviated CONSTITUCI: Desirable as a type coin as well as for it peculiar variety.
