A truly spectacular, and historical medal, with a hint of gold patina over extremely high relief design. Ex: John. J. Ford, Jr. Collection. The Certificate of Honor medals were originally issued with specially designed certificates printed by Waterlow & Sons. As with this wonderful example, the medals survive, but many of the certificates have been lost or destroyed. The British medals for African and Asian chiefs are very similar, and perhaps based upon, the North American Indian Peace medals given to many of the chiefs of the Indian tribes during the reign of King George III, William IV, and Queen Victoria.

Estimate: 5000.00-7500.00 USD
