Henry VIII (1509-47) gold Half Sovereign ND, S-2295, N-1827 (scarce), 3rd Coinage of 1544-47, Tower Mint, London, Pellet in Annulet mm, XF Details "scratches" NGC, fairly sharp details on the seated king, and in fact on all parts of the motifs, which typically were poorly struck during this era, the flan broad and only slightly wavy, with pleasing old-gold toning. The scratches are very old and occupy the lower area of the obverse -- the weakly struck folds of the king's attire. Variety with a large annulet on the inner beaded circle on each side (mis-labeled on grading insert as S-2294, without annulets).From The Marston Collection of British Coins.
