William III hallmarked gold 5 Guineas 1699, S-3455, 1st Bust, elephant & castle hallmark below, XF45 NGC, some scattered ancient marks but a generally sharp portrait and a really bold reverse shield, toned in deep golden shades with reddish hues, obverse struck slightly off center. Only year of issue for this denomination during this reign having the elephant image taken from the badge of the Africa Company and in homage to the African origin of much of the gold used for coinage in this historical period. After 1699, it never appeared again on any of these hefty "big fivers" and this coin therefore signals the end of an age.
