George III Halfcrown 1817, S-3788, KM667, Bull Head, MS65 NGC; beautiful visually, this coin shows virtually no post-striking abrasions but roller lines are to be seen through the king's hair and laurels, and a slight softness of detail on the opposing portion of the reverse. These are not flaws or damage. This is how the coin was made and for some it will add to the interest of this lovely specimen, which is 100% original and has really rich olive-green and golden brown toning. Lightly clashed dies, which show the fine porosity seen on so many pieces of this era -- the dies were porous, not the coin, no doubt from the humidity of the mint's proximity to the Thames River.
