French Colony. 1 Bit, Heart shaped Hole with Beveled Edge and "2" Counterstamped on 1733 Seville 1 Real, KM7 (for heart piercing), 2.80g, 43.2gr, VF35 NGC. Ex: R.A. Byrne Collections, Jess Peters Auction 78, June 13-14, 1975, lot 920. The reason for, and place of, the counterstamp "2" is unknown at this time, although it was applied before the cut-out. Current research has shown that many of the pieces thought to have been from Martinique actually originated in Gibraltar. Sold with an old collector's ticket.
