Griquatown 10 Pence ND (1815-16), KM-Tn5, Missionary Series struck in "high quality silver with a little tin added," AU58 NGC, sparkling luster, the flying dove crisp in all details but showing slight rub on the high points, the surrounding denticles of the high rim sharply made, and similarly well struck on the other side with all the letters of the town's name sharp and showing no wear; a handsome piece having no surface blemishes, only tiny abrasions, and dappled lilac gold iridescent toning. Engrailed edge, also called an Obliquely Reeded edge. Mintage unknown. All in all, an exceptionally fine example of this rarely seen, charming explorer's coin, made for use during the colonial era of South Africa.

Estimate: 6500.00-7500.00 USD
