George V silver 5 Cents 1920, KM31, MS66 William Barrett Collection NGC, Gem UNC, a truly splendid example of this, the final year of only three years of this style, boldly struck, its surfaces snow white in color, the luster "satin silk" in texture, rims consistently high and sharp with no abrasions -- so, all in all, a miracle of survival and of quality, inasmuch as most of the four million coins struck this year were melted when the composition changed from silver to copper-nickel; it resumed in 1926 with a different silver fineness, lacking the tiny raised cross beneath the king's portrait. Surely one of the finest known of this 20th-century rarity, and one of the best that will ever be certified. An important coin for the collector of this series! Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $1500 in VF, $3000 in EF, $9000 in UNC.
