Libertad Americana Rare Early Type Quartet, KM-D3 1/2 Real 1814-JF. Restrepo 132 correctly noted as "Rara". Very worn, perhaps VG, but with all details evident on a too-small flan. Less than ten are confirmed of this one-year and earliest Republican silver type. Accompanying it are the larger two denominations in the full series. KM-F1 One Real 1815-JF is the most available of the three types by a large margin; it is a pleasant Fine except the Indian bust is worn smooth. KM-C4 Two Reales 1816-JF is VG with clear legends and worn centers; the "6" does not seem repunched. Fourth is a mule with the obverse from the rarest type within the 1819 provisional series, the KM-75 One Real 1819-JF. The backside die is not the one employed on the 1819 series, but rather the one from the 1815 era, as in this lot. Unfortunately it is so damaged from likely jewelry usage that it was impossible for Dana to ever decide if it is an original or a contemporary fabrication (of which many existed according to historians). We suspect it is not an official issue and thus offer it as an important contemporary concoction. All four pieces are heavily worn as noted.Dana Roberts Collection and Study Group.

Estimate: 500.00-1000.00 USD
