Ceiba 50 Cntv 1866-GW unusual pair, KM112. Contrary to the KM listing, the 1866 with overdate is the standard for this year. The overdate is not strong but it is always certain. This overdate example, with one old scratch, is toned VF with most of all five stars visible, thus qualifying as well above par in the census. The second coin, being the only such one ever studied by Dana Roberts or Freeman Craig or Holland Wallace, has no evidence whatsoever of a "5" ever having been on the die used to strike it ! It is attractive with some orange-blue toning; the central detail is only Fine while the peripheral lettering is what one expects on a full VF. Dana labeled it the "discovery piece" for the non-overdate and it is indeed the only one yet confirmed by us.Dana Roberts Collection and Study Group.
