Military 1838 medal of High Rarity, Unlisted in all references checked by Dana Roberts over 30 years of search (and recently as reviewed by us). This beautifully designed and produced silver issue, weighing 7.55 grams, may be the earliest rendition of the coinage design element with a long-tailed Quetzal bird atop the pillars of Justice which are inscribed POR LA PAZ A. DE 1838 (translated: To the Peace of Year 1838). The Regiment flag, a peace symbol and crossed bow-and-arrows are featured in the obverse center. Nearly "mint state" with complete deep old toned luster. From lot 25891 of Dana Roberts' CICF '11 sale where it was the only rare item in a lot which fetched $2760.

Estimate: 1000.00-1500.00 USD
