An iconic note from the elusive early Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) issues featuring multiple vignettes of contemporary historical scenes from the time period. Printed by Waterlow and Sons, the design details and color tints, along with the bright paper and visible embossing provide excellent eye appeal on this large sized note. Scarce in higher grades with no known examples in uncirculated condition. Recent 2018 auction sales realized $40,800 for a PCGS Choice About New 55PPQ and $10,745 for a Very Fine with annotations. With high grade notes from this early issue making only random appearances on the auction block, we feel this highly desirable and problem free example should fall in the the upper range of our conservative estimate.
