Abbasid, al-Mu'tamid (AH 256 -279 / AD 870-892) Imitative AR Dirham. Uncertain mint, AH 265 = AD 879. Contemporary imitation, muling an obverse citing al-Muwaffaq (AH 262-273 / AD 876-887, heir of al-Mu'tamid) with a reverse citing al-Mu'tazz (AH 251-255 / AD 866-869). The mint name, considered by some as Simurg, is otherwise unknown and, now instead suggests Stephen Album, readable as "M S T F R" (ending in "'ayn" or "ghayn"), probably located somewhere in the Caucasus. Apparently unpublished, but cf. Stephen Album, Auction 31, lot 337. 3.61g, 21mm, 11h.
