Seleukid Empire, Alexander I Balas AR Tetradrachm. "Antioch on the Persian Gulf", struck circa 150-145 BC. Diademed head right / Apollo Delphios, testing arrow in right hand, resting left hand on grounded bow, seated left on omphalos; ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to right, ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ to left, monograms in outer fields. SC 1866.3 (same dies [erroneously labelled 1866.1 on the plate]); Mørkholm, Seleucid, p. 37, dies A3/P3; Houghton & Le Rider, "Un trésor de monnaies hellénistiques trouvé près de Suse," RN 1966, 100 (same dies); CSE 1099 (same dies); Le Rider Suse 493 (same dies). 15.58g, 26mm, 11h.

Very Fine; struck with worn obverse die. Extremely Rare, only four examples known and this is the second to be offered at auction (the first sold in September 2018, Classical Numismatic Group Auction 109, lot 310). The other two are in museums (Copenhagen and Tehran).
