Silver medal 1719 (later strike), Commemorating the capture of three Swedish warschips on 24 May 1719
Plans for a vigorous campaign in the summer of 1719 were prepared , by which Russia troops would be sailed from Finland to attak the Swedish coastline. The hero of Gangut, General-Amiral Feoder Apraxin, was given the command of the Russian Navy in the Baltic. The campaign took the Swedes by surprise, and they could not stop the amphibious onslaught, the Russians having near mastery of the seas. On 4 June 1719 a naval battle took place in the Baltic Sea between the islands of Osel (Saaremaa) and Gotland. All three swedish ships were captured

Hrdina z Gangutu, generál-admirál Feoder Apraxin, velil ruské flotile v Baltském moři. Operace zaskočila Švédy, kteří nemohli odolat obrovskému útoku, přičemž Rusi málem ovládli moře. Dne 4.6.1719 se udála námořní bitva v Baltském moři mezi ostrovy of Osel (Saaremaa) a Gotland. Všechny tři švédské lodě byly ukořisteny.
