China People's Bank of China 10 Yuan 1965 Pick 879pp Progressive Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. A very interesting Progressive Proof that this cataloger has certainly never seen. Though one might think this is a Color Trial Specimen with the colors of the frame and underprint changed to one seen on the contemporary 5 Yuan note, this design is subtly but in a few places critically different from the issued 10 Yuan note. Though the group of representatives in front of the Great Hall of the People look similar to the passing eye, there are key elements which were toned down for the issued note. On this note, the right side gentleman is wearing a full military uniform with a peaked cap, though retaining the same expression. In addition, the representatives in this vignette each have several extra medals. It is unknown why exactly this first vignette was not used, but the rarity of this design indicates it was proposed, but was quickly discarded. The lack of a back design serves to support this hypothesis. A very interesting example that will surely excite all collectors. Previous mounting is mentioned by the grading company. HID08701242017
