China People's Bank of China 20 Yuan 1965 Artist's Rendition in PMG Holder. A hand-drawn presentation proposal to a denomination that was never issued. A showcase of China's ethnic groups is seen on the face, at the distinctive Huabiao totem pole in front of the Tiananmen Gate Tower. A rendition of the Great Hall of the People (currently featured on the back of the 100 Yuan denomination) is seen on the back. The layout of the design is distinctively similar to that of the Third Series of the RMB. However, this design was not used and China would not see a 20 Yuan denomination until 1999. A 100 Yuan note of this similar proposed style is also known. All features are meticulously hand rendered on this presentation example with brilliant inks on both sides, and includes even a proposed alignment security feature in the upper right, which was not used until the Fourth Series. Interestingly, the Pinyin name of the People's Bank of China is misspelled on the back, with an additional "R" at the end. This design comes on the heels of a 1975 2 Yuan Proposed Design which recently set a new record a few months ago. With the excitement surrounding these never-before-seen designs, this cataloger expects another new record to be set tonight. HID08701242017
