South Africa South African Reserve Bank 1 Pound 1.11.1927 Pick 80 PMG Very Fine 25. A scarce type that seldom appears in any grade, at any time. The back of this note features a portrait of Jan van Riebeeck, unlike the remainder of series which features a coat of arms. Interestingly, the back portrait may in fact be another Dutchman, Bartholomeus Vermuyden, which was discovered by a genealogist in 1984. Nevertheless, this type is very scarce, and the first we have offered in five years.
