Iron hand grenade with original wooden fuse-plug, professionally conserved, ex-1715 Fleet. 628 grams, 3" in diameter. Solid cannonball with hollow center for gunpowder, kept dry by means of a wooden plug (intact) into which a fuse was inserted to turn it into an exploding bomb that could be lobbed at the enemy by hand, this example well preserved but with hairline crack that appears to be stable. From the 1715 Fleet, with original Mel Fisher photo-certificate #11554N, and pedigreed to our Auction #6 (lot #1736).
