JUDAEA, Roman Administration. Tessera (Lead, 13 mm, 1.56 g), circa 2nd to 4th centuries. Seven-branched menorah flanked by shofar and lulav. Very rare. Some deposits, otherwise, very fine.
We have attributed this extraordinary group of very rare tesserae showing menoroth (Lots 968-972) to Judaea to keep them together, but they could have been made in any of the many Jewish communities across the eastern Empire.
