Cr-480/17; CRI-101; Syd-1055. Possible lifetime issue. Obverse: IMPER CAESAR, laureate head right; M METTIVS, Venus standing left, with head lowered, holding victoriola and scepter, and resting elbow upon round shield set upon globus; A to left. A fairly RARE type when encountered this attractive and expressive, the present example was issued a few weeks prior to the fateful Ides of March--when Caesar was assassinated--or a few weeks following. Either way, an impressive and historic piece offering a tremendous rending of this famous figure.
