CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). Contemporary Counterfeit 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), Year 25 (1899). FINE.
28.07 gms. cf.L&M-454(for basic type); cf.K-196; cf.KM-Y-73. A very crude rendition of a Pei Yang Dollar struck with shallow dies. Clearly an example which saw much circulation contemporaneously to genuine issues. Numerous light scratches on the reverse mentioned of accuracy. Scattered minor earthen deposits and the surfaces with light dirty patina indicative of low grade silver. A very interesting and VERY RARE issue certain to excite even the most advanced collectors of Chinese Provincial coinage.SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS.
