1) Contemporary counterfeit 8 Reales, ND (ca. 1840s). 26.94 gms. cf.KM-107 (for basic type). In imitation of Type II countermark (1839); sun over mountains. Crude rendition of the countermark lacking in refined detail with thick rays. Clearly the design of the countermark didn't bother locals as this piece saw much circulation after the countermark was applied. Holed at 6 o'clock over the King's ordinal from long ago.
2) Contemporary counterfeit 4 Reales, ND (ca. 1840s). 12.96 gms. cf.KM-87.2 (for basic type). In imitation of Type II countermark (1839); sun over mountains. A more convincing rendition with much finer details and thin rays. This type would have had no problem circulating since the design was quite close to the legitimate stamp.
Ex: Richard Stuart Collection.
3) Modern Concoction 8 Reales, ND (ca. 1950s or thereabouts). 35.63 gms. In imitation of a local Indian imitation with a very crude and rudimentary imitation of Type II countermark (1839), sun over mountains. The style and execution of both the host coin and countermark should be considered of terrible quality and for lack of a better term are laughable.SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS.
