GREAT BRITAIN. The Most Noble Order of the Garter Silver Breast Star, Instituted 1348. NEAR MINT.
64.9 mm. 45.74 gms. Barac-706; MYB-1. Eight pointed multi-ray faceted silver star with a central medallion portraying the red enameled Cross of St. George surrounded by a blue garter inscribed HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. The reverse plain except for the maker's script identification engraved on the central medallion: Hunt & Roskell / Late / Storr, Mortimer & Hunt / 156 New Bond Street / London. Additionally, lightly inscribed on the reverse of the eighth star point is the number 5200. Similarly the apparently gold hinged tunic pin is engraved 5200 / UE / UE / - on its underside. Housed in a Tiffany & Company black and deep green presentation case not originally intended for this Order. A virtually problem-free example of this important Order with only a few near-microscopic surface chips to the red enamel of the cross as very slight detractors.
