Sweden Riksens Ständers Wexel-Banco 3 Riksdaler Specie 28.1.1789 Pick A92b PMG Choice Very Fine 35. Sweden pioneered the use of banknotes in Europe. In 1661, the Stockholms Banco started issuing paper money, but was short lived because the Bank found themselves guilty of seigniorage. Riksens Ständers Bank reintroduced the idea of paper currency in 1777, and issued banknotes until 1869, when the Sveriges Riksbank took over the production and issuance of Swedish currency. This will be the first time that we have offered this variety. It is the sole graded example in the PMG census. We are aware of a single offering on the auction circuit in 2014, where an ungraded example in poorer condition sold for just over $3,100. Minor repairs are mentioned. Rare, and definitely desirable. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/sweden-riksens-standers-wexel-banco-3-riksdaler-specie-2811789-pick-a92b-pmg-choice-very-fine-35/a/4022-28559.s?type=CoinArchivesCurrency4022 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
