Schjöth, Fredrik, Chinese Currency, Taipei, year 56 (1967), Virgil Hancock reprint of the 1929 original, 88 pages, 132 plates, hardcover with worn dust jacket, plus additional pages and plates added by Hancock. Although a bit outdated now, it is reasonably comprehensive, has background information on the coinage, and a well-recognized, simple numbering system. Illustrations are simplified hand drawings which aid identification by novices, but do not reflect true calligraphy details. Decent sections on Chinese charms, Korean, Vietnamese, and Japanese cash, but not comprehensive enough for use today. It was the standard among Western collectors before Hartill, but is now essentially obsolete, except for the numbering system still widely used. The Virgil Hancock edition is generally the favored edition by collectors. This Taiwanese printing is a larger format than the American version.
