Ilkhans. Abu Sa’id, AH 716-774. Dinar de type C (Mihrab) AH 719, Bagdad. Inscription sur cinq lignes dans un cartouche ornementé / Inscription sur trois lignes dans un polylobe à quatre angles. 9,56g. Album 2198; Diler 488.

Ce dinar est un exemple du monnayage le plus original d’Abu-Sa’id. L’avers porte la Kalima et les noms des quatre califes orthodoxes, entourés par un extrait de la Sourate II (al-Baqara), vers 137 : fasika fi hukum Allah wa huwa al-sami ‘ al-‘alim (Dieu est le Seul Défenseur qu’il vous faut. Il entend tout et Il connaît tout). Bien que ce type se rencontre sur les monnaies d’argent de nombreux ateliers, il fut rarement employé pour les frappes en or en dehors de Bagdad et de Tabriz.
This is an example of Abu-Sa’id’s most original coinage type.The obverse places the kalima supported by the names of the four orthodox caliphs within an enclosure framed by the words of Surah II (al-Baqara), verse 137 in part : fasika fi hukum Allah wa huwa al-sami ‘ al-‘alim (God is your all sufficient defender. He hears all and knows all). Although this type was principally struck in silver at many different mints, gold of this type is seldom encountered from mints other than Baghdad and Tabriz.
