Republic silver Pattern "Dragon & Phoenix" Dollar Year 12 (1923) MS67 PCGS, Tientsin mint, KM-Y336.1, L&M-80, Kann-680a, WS-0113, Wenchao-884 (rarity 2 stars). Large characters variety. Utterly fantastic--simply a perfect confluence of rarity and condition combining the finest certified grade at both NGC and PCGS with the most elusive of the two principle varieties of this type. Meaningfully unimprovable, the surfaces appear immaculate and icy white with booming cartwheel luster from all angles, and a light mottling of russet tone. While providing an estimate on such a phenomenal example of such an iconic issue is necessarily pure speculation, we note that an MS66 in Spring 2018 brought an astonishing 690,000 Renminbi (roughly $100,000) in a Chinese auction.
