Rx: MARS -V - I - CTOR Helmeted, nude Mars advancing right, holding spear and trophy over shoulder, barbarian seated on ground before him, supporting head with hand in attitude of mourning. Apparently only the second recorded specimen of this aureus with only P instead of P F in obverse legend. The same reverse die of our coin was also used with a P F obverse and with the obverse legend IMP C PROBVS INVICTVS AVG: see RIC pl. IV.14 and Calico 4165.
