Justinian I. 527-565 AD. Solidus, 4.43g. (6h). Alexandria, c. 527-537 AD. Obv: D N IVSTINI - ANVS PP AVG Helmeted bust of Justinian 3/4 facing in military dress holding spear over shoulder and shield, small cross on helmet. Rx: VICTORI - A AVGGG A Victory standing facing holding long cross and globus cruciger, star to right. In exergue ALEXAOB. This type was unknown until recently so is not in any of the major references. Today five specimens are recorded.
