A neglected rare variant of this denarius with VESPASIAN rather than VESPASIANVS in the obverse legend, originally published by Gnecchi in Riv. It. 1893, p. 282, but overlooked in BMC and the first edition of RIC, which allows us to date the IOVIS CVSTOS type precisely to 76 AD, when Titus' obverse legend with VESPASIANVS replaced that with VESPASIAN.
