A SPECIAL OBJECT. An extraordinary collector piece of Decorative Art in gold. The Golden Cigar Box of the Shah of Persia.
DESCRIPTION: This elegant golden box has been selected for its distinctive quality and provenance. The box presents a rectangular shape, its cover and sides are finely and intricately engraved with exotic birds and oriental and symmetrical scrolling motifs in the Safavid revival style .Its interior is made of an elegant and polished wood.Its base is plain and presents three small interesting punches;the first one represents the goldsmith's name HOSSEIN,the central one is a crown, representing Reza Pahlavi's kingdom, and, the last one represents the city where this golden piece has been created in ISFAHAN. Weight: 1.296 Gramm.
PROVENANCE: From a private collection. This extraordinary golden box has been created in honor of the last Persian Shah (king), Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, in charge from September 1941 until his overthrow during the Islamic Revolution in February 1979. During his reign, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi has introduced the so called White Revolution, a series of economic, social and political reforms with the intention of transforming Persia into a global power and modernizing the nation by nationalizing certain industries, granting women suffrage and improving the education, health and armed forces systems. Then, in 1979 the Islamic Revolution took place, leading to the monarchy's overthrow and the creation of an Islamic Republic led by Khomeini.
