ISLANDS OFF THRACE, Thasos. Circa 148-90/80 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.85 g, 11 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΘΑΣΙΩΝ Herakles standing left, nude but for lion's skin over his shoulder and left arm; resting right hand on club; to left, monogram. HGC 6, 359. Le Rider, Thasiennes 52. Prokopov Group XIII 579-586 var (V AA6/ R-, unrecorded reverse die). Toned, clear and well-centered. Somewhat lightly struck, otherwise, extremely fine.
