SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos IX Eusebes Philopator (Kyzikenos), 114/3-95 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.22 g, 12 h), Antioch, 113-112. Diademed head of Antiochos IX to right, with light beard; fillet border. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ - ΦΙΛΟΠΑΤΟΡΟΣ Athena Nikephoros standing left, holding Nike in her right hand, resting her left on her shield and with her spear behind her; to left, monogram of Ν over Α; inner right, Ο; all within laurel wreath. SC 2363d. SMA 385. Toned and with a fine portrait. Some minor roughness and a tiny mark on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.

From the collection of W. Belser, Zürich, prior to 1965, and that of his son, acquired from Bank Leu in the 1960s-early 1970s with its ticket bearing the inventory number IA 7544.
