LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 300-280 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 22 mm, 7.30 g, 10 h). Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet adorned with a griffin; above vizor, Δ; before Athena's throat, Φ. Rev. ΥEΛHTΩN Lion walking to right; above, pentagram between Φ - Ι. HN III 1306. Jameson I, 392 (this coin). Williams 433d (this coin). Beautifully toned, very well-struck and perfectly centered. Extremely fine.

From the collection of W. Belser, Zürich, prior to 1965, and that of his son, acquired in the early 1970s, and from that of R. Jameson, who acquired it prior to 1913 from the Gille Collection.
