Large, ornate, rectangular silver tray from Potosi, Bolivia, late 1800s, silversmith J. Guzman (stamped), double-headed eagle and heart design. 1204 grams, 17-1/2" x 11-1/2" x 1-1/2".Impressive piece with deeply embossed design on 2-3/4" rim, including cherubs, fruits and flowers, and engraved interior showing double-headed eagle with central heart, small circular crown stamp and PLATERO / J. / GUZMAN in top-left corner, all lightly toned and very solid, just the kind of heavy silver object that got melted down by the truckload in past decades, therefore somewhat rare today.With Sedwick photo-certificate.
