The Indo-Greek Kingdom - Menander (ca. 160-145 BC) - Bilingual AR tetradrachm (4.91 g.), Bilingual issue, diademed heroic bust wearing aegis and brandishing spear l. / Athena Alkidemos to l. holding aegis on outstretched l. arm, and hurling thunderbolt with r. Monogram to r. Uncertain mint in the Paropamisadai or Gandhara. Very rare. General features VF/XF or even better, but show a black patina, light in weight and brittle on the edges. The provenance of the coins with these features can be traced back to the Mir Zakah II hoard. Ref.: Bop. series 8.A; MIG 219.b; Hoover 180.
