Nigrinianus (c. 285) - DIVUS NIGRINIANUS - AE Antoninianus (Rome, 3.81 g) - DIVO NIGRINIANO Radiate, half-length bust right / CONSECRATIO Eagle standing facing, head left, KAA in ex. (RIC V pt. 2, 472) - good VF, dark black patina, surfaces a bit rough, rare.. History records that the emperor Carus (AD 282-283) had a grandson of this name but beyond that, nothing is known of this prince. It appears likely that he was the son of Carinus and Magnia Urbica and that he died in infancy in AD 284. His rare coinage was struck concurrently with issues in the names of Divus Carus (died AD 283) and Divus Numerian (died AD 284).
