Domitius Domitianus (297-298) - AE Follis (Alexandria 3rd off. 2nd emission AD 298, 10.80 g) - MP C L DOMITIVS DOMITIANVS AVG Laureate head right / GENIO POPVLI ROMANI Genius standing left, holding patera and cornucopia, eagle at feet to left, Γ in right field (ALE in ex.) (RIC VI 20) - VF, brown patina with some red deposits, obverse slightly off center, very rare (ex CNG 317, 386). For almost a year the usurper Domitius Domitianus controlled Alexandria in Egypt, and also the grain supply for Rome.
