T.F.Anderson 14 Bn. A.I.F. on last medal. All medals impressed. Display mounted on cardboard sheet with other items listed below and recipient's service details, toned very fine.

Together with 9ct gold return fob featuring 46Bn colour patch in centre and inscribed on reverse, 'The Great War/Presented by/St Arnaud Nth District/to/Sergeant T Anderson/No 3551/4th Batt 12th Brigade/4th Division'; Journee Du Poilu (Day of the Hairy; i.e. trench soldier) 1915 silver badge for raising funds for front line French infantry; Returned from Active Service badge (AIF); RSL badge (three figure type) with 57 overlay on crown; brown leather purse (142x90mm) (some stitching missing on one side).

Recommendation for MM: 3551 Corporal Thomas Fleming Anderson, 46th Battn. - East of Peronne on 18/19th Sept. 1918. For bravery and initiative in handling a platoon. After his officer had become a casualty he took charge of the platoon and by fine leading got them forward under heavy enemy fire. He showed grit and determination throughout the whole of the operation.

Corporal Anderson did not receive the Military Medal however he did receive a congratulatory message.

Major General E.G.Sinclair MacLagan C.B., D.S.O., Commanding 4th Australian Division, on 20 October 1918, personally congratulates 3551 Cpl T.F.Anderson A.I.F. 'On his courage and determination displayed whilst leading his platoon in the attack on 18th September near St Quentin.'
