Alfred Vincent Burns, clerk, age 25, born at Charters Towers, Qld; Enl.20Jun1940 at Martin Place, Sydney, NSW and Oath of Enlistment on same day at Paddington, Sydney, NSW; Emb.03Feb1941 with 2/20 Infy Bn; Disemb.18Feb1941 at Singapore; appt'd Sub Group Special Intelligence Section 06Nov1941; Missing 16Feb1942 Malaya; POW Tokyo 14Jul1943 (POW No.94); Died of disease whilst POW interned at Tokyo POW Camp No.4 Naoetsu (acute pneumonia) 15Dec1943; commemorated at Yokohama War Cemetery, Aust. Sec. E.A.1., Japan.
