L. Saufeius Æ Semis. Rome, 152 BC. Laureate head of Saturn to right; S (mark of value) behind / Prow of galley to right; L•SAVF (VF ligate) and crescent above, S (mark of value) before, ROMA below. Crawford 204/3; Sydenham 385a; RBW 876. 15.72g, 25mm, 4h.
Very Fine. Rare; unusually clear moneyer name and symbol; the crescent at the edge of flan is often worn or struck off. The Latin lettering form of "L" is noted as "sporadic" by Crawford, with an old Italic (arrow shaped) L being usual.
