William Hunter (1718-1783) was a ground breaking scholar of gynaecology and served as Physician Extraordinaire to Queen Charlotte.
Thomas Kirkpatrick Monro (1865–1958), Regius Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Glasgow. He was also an avid bibliophile and his collection, almost complete in the works of Thomas Browne (1605-1682), is now held in the special collections of the University of Glasgow Library.
