Faipoult became a Partisan of the Revolution and Secretary-General of the Ministry of the Interior, then between 1794-1796 he was Minister of Finance. At the time of the establishment of the Cisalpine Republic, in which he played an important part, he was Minister plenipotentiary in Genoa.
