King Louis-Philippe sent his son François d'Orléans, the Prince de Joinville and an admiral in the French navy, to St. Helena to bring back the remains of Napoleon on La Belle-Poule, a 60-gun frigate. The Prince sailed from Toulon on 7 July 1840 and arrived in St Helena on 8 October. The body passed through Rouen on 10 December and arrived in Paris five days later.
