China People's Bank of China 5000 Yuan 1951 Pick 857Ba S/M#C282 PMG Very Fine 20. Representing the ultimate degree of rarity, this high denomination note was issued in Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia, as Uyghur and Mongolian text is present on the back of this note. It is assumed that only small numbers of printed banknotes were actually issued, and that almost all extant examples were redeemed and destroyed beginning in 1955. For whatever reason, this denomination from the Outer Provinces is extremely rare today. We have offered this type in issued format only once previously, and that note, grading PCGS Good 4, netted $55,812 in 2014. This example is significantly better, and represents an important opportunity to acquire an extremely rare and culturally significant banknote.
