Hong Kong Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corp. 5 Dollars 1.1.1923 Pick 166s KNB54S Specimen PMG Uncirculated 62. The Waterlow & Sons engraved series of banknotes were replaced in 1927, making any example a prized possession today. This charming Specimen is certainly scarcer than issued examples. This is the first example we have had the privlege to offer. At the time of cataloging, there are only eight examples graded in the PMG Population Report. Hole punched cancellations were applied in lieu of serial numbers and signatures. A red overprint at front completes the transformation. All design elements and intricate engravings are on full display. As the vast majority of Waterlow & Sons engravings were mounted in presentation booklets, typical mount remnants and associated repairs are to be expected. The overall visual appeal of this large-sized Specimen is impressive.
