"Duress Note" is a term for a HSBC banknotes that were forcibly issued into circulation by the Japanese Military during the World War II occupation of Hong Kong. After 1941, 200,000 of these 50 Dollar banknotes were issued, ranging from B350,001 to 550,000. Most of these notes were redeemed decades ago. The few remaining examples are widely sought after by collectors.
