Japan Greater Japan Imperial National Bank, Tokyo 5 Yen ND (1873) Pick 12s Specimen PMG Very Fine 20. The 5 Yen denomination is extremely rare in any form, and this Specimen is the first offered publicly. PMG mentions on the back of their new holder "Intermediate Specimen" which indicates that this Specimen was first an issued banknote and transformed to a Specimen later. A small serial number with the A-prefix is seen, along with some rust and an erasure at back. A red overprint at right confirms cancellation and Specimen status. Also, notice the four hole punched cancellations at each corner. Highly unusual in this form and worthy of consideration.
